Citizens; A Setting
A loosely gestured industrial-Victorian game.
A game about surviving as a citizen of a sprawling world-city, or the half-forgotten remnant backwash of a million Fent-Ohios or Pennsyltucky valleys left behind by “progress”.
It is a game about who you know, which favors are owed, and where you stand in the pecking order.
It concerns itself with scoundrels, drifters, and opportunists doing questionable things to even worse people in alleyways, moorlands, factories, and forgotten boroughs.
A game about stealing a sack of dosh and giving the constables the finger as you run.
A game of temporal dislocation, historical drift, and the uncanny feeling of a post-mutated Earth, familiar enough to recognize, but just wrong enough to unsettle.
A game about confidence tricksters, mutant yokels, disgraced prophets of stargazing cults, failed visionaries, debtors, scavengers, and all the other oddities who inhabit the cracks of a world that has forgotten how it came to be, slipped sideways out of history.
