Laranian Clerical Spells of ODnD Hârn

Working my way now through the Clerical invocations of HârnWorld.

The spells below are of the Fighting Paladins of Larani, who can wield edged weapons.

All are sourced from HârnMaster Religion.

Note: Details the Hârn Hack

larani

Causes an immediate morale check for everyone within Range. Laranians get a +2 to morale

Courage of Mendiz

This spell wards the caster from attacks by creatures of another alignment, as follows:

Curse of the Reluctant Warrior

One chosen subject in Range suffers -2 to hit rolls for Duration. At level 5, the effect is extended to 3 subjects

Fast of Tirannon

Allows the subject to ignore the need for food or water for Duration (negative Starvation effects), but all attributes are halved. Invocation may not be performed on the same subject more than 2x/month

Larani’s Shield

If the subject is wielding a shield, their AC is -2, instead of -1. If the subject is protecting an unarmed lady, -3AC.

Light of Dolither

A magical light is sufficient for reading, but it is not as bright as daylight. The spell may be cast upon an object, in which case the light moves with the object.

Passage of Tirithor

Neutralize the effects of poison on a character.

Valamin’s Insight

Offers insight when the invoker is unsure of what to do. This only applies to moral quandaries. The GM may appropriately reveal the information.

Bandage of St. Perelyne

The caster’s touch heals 2d6+2 hit points of damage in one living subject. This cannot raise the subject’s hit points above their normal maximum.

Blessing of the Winged Lion

A single creature is bestowed with resistance to mundane and magical heat or fire.

Endurance of St. Ambrathas

A subject’s movement speed is doubled for Duration.

Hearld of the End of Life

The sword takes on characteristics of Larani’s holy sword Avarkiel, giving a +2 to damage rolls (+4 against Agrikan believers) for Duration

Shield of Hyvrik

Provided the subject bears a checkered shield, the AC of the shield is -2 for Duration and can be used to absorb the full damage from a mundane weapon’s single hit without sundering.

Knight’s Peace

Creates a spherical radius centered on the cleric in which all Laranians are disinclined to fight. Those wishing to fight must roll Save vs Spells to fight.

Oathbinder

Provided the subject is Laranian, it causes the subject’s sword to assume characteristics of Avarkiel. The sword bearer will find his sword has +3 damage. A non-Laranian will find the sword unbalanced with -2 to hit rolls when using the sword

Orathas’ Faith

Battle: Allies within a 20’ square area who are not yet in melee gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls and a +3 bonus to morale

Protection of Angcaradina

Enhances the armor of the cleric or that of the subject touched. Affected armor takes on a blood-red hue. -3 AC for Duration.

Red Robes Flowing

Causes all in range to enter into a battle rage frenzy with +2 to hit. Those who can resist need to roll Save vs Spells at -2

Valamin’s Sleep

Causes creatures (except undead) to fall into a magical slumber. The spell may target either:

  1. A single creature with 4+1 Hit Dice
  2. A total of 2d8 Hit Dice of creatures of 4 HD or lower each.

When targeting creatures of 4 HD or less, the following rules apply:

Killing: A single attack with a bladed weapon can kill a creature enchanted by this spell.

Awakening: Enchanted creatures can be forcefully awakened (e.g. by slapping).

Larani’s Charge

All Laranians in Range have +4 to hit and damage with a lance or spear during a cavalry charge.
