Shifty Louts Session 14: The City Mobile, the DWARF Enclave

Players

Monterey od Mecanizio-Manzaza, Redlander Barbarian (Chance), Brother Lump the Accountant Abbot (Phocas), and Frutilla Paon (hireling)

Summary

The group continues to wait in the long line to enter the City Mobile; some have been waiting for days. Eventually, they happen to come across a mobile oil dwarfer station, a Jeihn Albertch Zhour Apffel Guzzoline & SooperMarkt that currently specializes in old tech repairs.

MOBILE

Brother Lump, having traded his second brain outside of the Ciudade Loira to the travelling Soilborn Soulsystem salesman, Mirodar Reumeni, for an Oldtech Table, wants to check it out.

Inside, he meets a dwarf who, through an electronic larynx, communicates that he’ll have to take a ticket and wait, as there are a few other jobs that DWARF has to get done first.

After some more time passes, Brother Lumps' notification puck buzzes, and they return to the Jeihn Albertch Zhour Apffel Guzzoline & SooperMarkt, where the DWARF says that the Oldtech Table is encrypted with a password in an unknown language and that he lacks the source codes to bypass it.

However, Brother Lump can easily visit a meat doctor in Mobile to get an implant; the real issue is finding the source codes to properly open the encrypted old tech. For the trouble, it costs 12d.

After about six hours, the group reaches the front of the queue, where they are asked to declare themselves and their Hexad affiliation. Unfortunately, the group doesn’t know their Hexad affiliation, and are thus led to another processing station filled with non-Hexad affiliated visitors to fill out the proper paperwork and get their Hexad Sigil.

Monterey learns from a Yellowlander salesman that Hexads are traditional fraternal self-help societies of the Red Land coast, and are the heirs to centuries of resistance, mutual assistance, and poorly-disguised piracy against the Vinter Lords. When the Red Land District broke free of the Vinter Lords, its naive revolutionary elites turned to the old sages of the hexads for advice and legitimacy. Then, in due time, for semi-formalized government. The DWARFs also deal with the Hexad Societies after the Bloody Popular Uprising of Sun (rising) of Camelia III.

Thinking that the Hexad Societies are some sort of pirate enclave, Brother Lump bribes the local clerk with a donation of 14d. Brother Lump is declared under the auspices of the Depico Hexad Society. Their sigil is a chalice, an arm with a sword, and skull and crossbones.

DEPICO

Going back in line, it's learned that Frutilla and Monterey also have to declare themselves with proper sigils. Another bribe of 30d and the two receive their sigil paperwork in good order. Finally entering the twisting warehouse, oil refinery, and city of Mobile.

They attempt to find their contact Groen-4 Copy, but are accosted by a  diesel-chugging Dwarf, with burned beard and haunted eyes, talking of wire-ghouls in a salt mine far to the west. He slams Monterey against a wall, saying he’s possessed by the wires, as Brother Lumps attempts to defend him, only to get glassed by his bottle of diesel.

The homeless Dwarf twists Monterey's wrist, and Brother Lump lays on his hands, feeling the presence of the Yellow God’s aspect as the Chemical Mother leeches the diesel from the “drunken” Dwarf who passes out in a heap upon the ground.

Klaxons and sirens sound that tell the “floorwalkers” to stay where they are and that Salesforce representatives will be there momentarily.

A group of 6 “judge-dread style” DWARF security show up and ascertain the situation. It’s learn the the homeless dwarf, Obritish Krat, has done this before; scaring tourists and accosting individuals about “unsubstantiated rumors about wire-ghouls.” The group is told to move along as their electrified truncheon begins clubbing Obritish Krat.

Monterey asks where they can find a Groen-4 Copy. Salesforce says that he’s a day manager as Sutlers and is given a pamphlet that shows the route to Sutlers (FOR EVERYTHING!) in the Cottonleak neighborhood of Mobile.

The group finds the large luxury Sears-like department store of Sutlers and finds that as they enter, a mandatory random stock check has been called on your department, overseen by Salesforce. Turbot is coming up short, and a colleague is taken away to the security annex to be “interviewed”.

After the events of the stock check, Monterey meets a perfume saleswoman who is tittering with a DWARF woman. The perfume smells of oil and fish (disgusting!) Eventually, Monterey meets a middle manager who sends an email to Groen-4 Copy, and the group loiters outside Sutlers.

Frutilla, on his Maya Yuga motorcycle, gets chased around by Salesforce while Brother Lump and Monterey see a low, four-legged Thinking Engine that serves as a platform for a person-sized terrarium. The terrarium is densely grown with unrecognizable Greenland plants. What at first looks like a flat rock in the center is in fact the lilliputian Greenland city-state of Pirexia.  The Tyrant of Pirexia communicates through the voice parts of the Thinking Engine, which today wants three salmon heads.

Monterey and Brother Lump say the Sutler’s has everything, and that the Tyrant of Pirexia should investigate inside. For the trouble, Monterey is given 5d out of the Thinking Engine’s dispenser tray!

They are eventually called by the perfume saleswoman, a Prima od Petiz, to Groen-4 Copy’s nondescript office. A positively helpful DWARF, who, if the Shifty Louts could see his face, is stretched into a rictus-like smile

The deal is struck with Groen leaded them down to the loading docks as unmarked crates of weapons are loaded on their wagon via a Dieseler Discus. The group is also given a crude map that shows the Redwine Hills and where they are to meet Anda Vene’s clan and the location of Syr Goira Kujina of the Grace Abounds Vinter Wine Manse to deliver the “merchandise”.

As the evening comes, the group can find a bed and breakfast style Depico Hexad Hotel (The Steak and Sword)for 25d/week, which is operated by Paprizio Depico, who tells of grave and horrible crimes the Vinter Lords committed against his Depico brethren.

The Fourteenth of Yellowmonth. The Annual Martial Sung Poothers Yellowmonth Sale.

The group awakens from the Steak and Sword Depico Hexad Hotel, seeking to link up with Anda Vene and the Great Plateaulet clan of Redwine Hills out in the Rust Westcountries.
